Former Penn coach Glen Miller resurfaces

I get asked surprisingly often if I know anything about what former Penn coach Glen Miller is up to these days. Until now, I had no idea.

I get asked surprisingly often if I know anything about what former Penn coach Glen Miller is up to these days. Until now, I had no idea.

The Journal Inquirer of Manchester, Conn., is reporting that Miller is soon to be announced as the new "director of basketball administration" at the University of Connecticut. This puts him back under the wing of his former mentor, Jim Calhoun.

Miller started his college playing career at UConn, then transferred to Northeastern to play for Calhoun. Miller then joined Calhoun's staff as an assistant in 1986.

My last meeting with Miller was at the Connecticut-Georgetown game in Washington this past January. He was sitting behind the UConn bench with two other former Huskies assistants, ex-Virginia head coach Dave Leitao and current George Washington coach Karl Hobbs.

I'm certainly not surprised that he's back in Storrs. I had always figured he would end up there some day. Though way back when he came to Penn from Brown, I certainly didn't think it would be in this capacity.
