Football Crunchy Numbers

Penn State leads the way again, Temple makes a big jump and Rutgers takes a big fall.

Football Crunchy Numbers

Here we go again. This week's version is a lot more detailed than before, because I felt like adding some new features.

You'll see each local team's ranking from this week and last week, who they played last week and who they're playing this week. Last week's results include the Sagarin ranking for the opponent both before and after the game, in that order.

Okay, now that you've slogged through that, time for some lighter stuff. By way of Awful Announcing, we learn that Central Florida coach George O'Leary's weekly conference call did not go according to plan. Good thing the conversation wasn't on the record.

It's Tuesday, of course, which means it's time for a new Forde-Yard Dash. And it's a good time to remind Mr. Dash that he has a standing invitation to consume the locally-brewed beverage of his choice after watching a game at Franklin Field or the Palestra. I still hold out hope that he's heard of me.

Let's finish today off with the Top 10 comparison. I've added a new column to the table this week: the top 10 teams on Inquirer Penn State beat writer (and blogger) Jeff McLane's ballot. Jeff is the eastern Pennsylvania representative on the AP voting panel, and you can read his full ballot here.

It's interesting to see how Jeff's ballot differs compares to the AP poll, and how the Sagarin ranking once again differs from all the others. It's also quite different from last week. Funny how things happen when teams actually get out on the field.

I'll be back tomorrow morning with the Spectacle of the Week poll before I head to Villanova for the local football coaches' luncheon. Miami at Florida will definitely be there - what's your nomination?
