Crunchy Numbers

Even though the World Series starts tomorrow night, today and tomorrow are going to be very busy days here on the blog.

I spent this morning on the Ivy League men's basketball preseason conference call, and I'll be posting the recording of the call later today.

Tomorrow morning, I'll be in New York for Big East media day. I'll have audio of as many coaches as I can get to, and I'm sure Villanova coach Jay Wright will be getting a lot of attention as the Wildcats get some deserved preseason hype.

Then it's back to the office for the start of the World Series and another live game chat.

(Sleep? What's that?)

We begin today with Crunchy Numbers. Since I'll be missing the football coaches luncheon tomorrow, this week's edition is another combined listing across divisions.

And after all that, we have the first BCS ratings of the season to consider in the Top 10 comparison. Take a look at this week's TV schedule courtesy of Awful Announcing, then tell me your answers to these questions:

- Will Texas, Alabama and Penn State all finish the season undefeated?
- Will Utah and/or Boise State end the season rated high enough qualify for automatic BCS berths?
- If so, since only one non-BCS team can qualify for the bowls, which team will it be? And which team should it be?
