Crunchy Numbers

With Penn State seemingly out of the national title picture, it's time to root for BCS chaos.

A few quick thoughts as the clock moves a lot faster than I want it to...

- With Penn State out of the national title picture, it's time to root for BCS chaos. Imagine what would happen if Missouri won the Big 12, Oregon State the Pac-10, Cincinnati the Big East and Utah an automatic at-large bid. Think that would make the conference commissioners sit up straight for once?

- Philly.com's office gets ESPNU on the big TV near my desk. This is a very good thing.

- ESPN.com's Pat Forde allows some

TV schedules. This renders the 1,200-plus-game spreadsheet of nationally televised basketball games I just imported my Outlook calendar almost completely moot. At least my version can be used offline.

- In addition to the national TV schedule spreadsheet, I do spreadsheets for my calendar every season for all City Six men's and women's basketball games. They include dates, times and broadcast information, and are formatted for easy use in a range of email clients and PDA sync progarms.
