Bringing back the Best Player poll

Re-opening the Christmas vs. Nivnins vs. Cunningham debate.

Bringing back the Best Player poll

I got an email from the Inquirer sports editors this morning saying that they wanted to do a poll asking who the player of the year in the city is.

As it turned out, their poll included the same candidates as the one that was here on the blog a few weeks ago.

So the poll is back, and yes, the question has been tweaked somewhat. But go right ahead and vote again. If you run into trouble casting a ballot, clear the cookies in your web browser and it should work.

(I think I just encouraged a mildly unethical form of stuffing the ballot box. But hey, ballot box-stuffing has been a standing practice here for years, so why not.)

Who is the city player of the year in men's college basketball?
Dionte Christmas (Temple)

  287 (27.2%)
Ahmad Nivins (St. Joseph's)

  226 (21.4%)
Dante Cunningham (Villanova)

  526 (49.9%)
Total votes = 1054

While I'm here, it's Tuesday, so it's time for the weekly stats roundup. It's probably a good thing that I'm getting this in before the Marquette-Villanova tipoff, as it represents games through yesterday.

The RPI data is from RealTimeRPI.com, and the strength of schedule data is from Pomeroy.

I'll be back later with some thoughts from tonight's game.
