I picked Temple #1 in the S16 this past week (even though I didn't get my submission in on time!) but Villanova's still the better team. The fact that there's an actual debate on this is great for the Big 5. Now we just need to get all the games back in the Palestra.

Temple is having a great run right now, but the top team is clearly the Hawks. Big win vs. Big Brother Boston College! Why are they not included in the pollsters?

Like Villanova players said themselves. Temple's win wasn't an upset. They have one of the top 5 RPI in the country. Temple is in the top 25 for good this year. Record of TU opponents going into their game against Temple: 39-10. Record of their games against Temple: 2-9. Pretty telling numbers, especially with their strong schedule. AND the two losses are to teams that are now 16-2 and both top 25.

YoNorton, your right the hawks are best in the Big5, they are the only team that has shown they can come out of a six game losing streak! How do I use the my sarcasm font on this site?

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.
I write primarily about the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League, but I also cover the other basketball and football teams across the city from time to time. In the spring, you'll find coverage of the Penn Relays here.
In addition to all of that, I write Philly.com's soccer blog, The Goalkeeper.
Full Court Press is a compilation of the latest and most interesting college sports blog posts from across the web. If you want your blog included, email me and let me know.
