Sprint Force America just set a new world record for a 70+ men's masters 4x100-meter relay.

Larry Colbert, Wayne Bennett, Gary Sims and Bob Lida crossed the line in 51.96 seconds.

The only problem was that they were running in a 60+ race, and finished second. But that's still pretty impressive.

Mass Velocity (Roger Pierce, Bic Stevens, Bob Davis and Ron Johnson) won the race in 51.37 seconds.

I put together a photo gallery of the race that you can see by clicking the link above.

With that, I'm off to the infield for a while. You can get live results from the Relays' official website, and apparently there is also live streaming video.

I hope that doesn't drive you away from the blog, though...

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.

I also contribute to the Inquirer's women's basketball blog, Women's Hoops Guru.
