Race 202 was a thrilling high school boys' 4x400-meter relay, with most of the top schools in the competition taking part.
It was also the loudest race we've heard at Franklin Field so far, as four Jamaican teams were on the track. They included powerhouses Holmwood Tech and St. Jago, which always bring a lot of fans.
The race was a duel between St. Jago and Meade (Fort Meade, Md.). St. Jago led going into the final leg, but anchor Adolphus Nevers fell behind Meade anchor Anja Uzoh on the back streetch.
Nevers' tank wasn't empty yet, though. He slammed on the gas pedal coming around the turn and took an unassailable lead into the home stretch.
Meade ended up finishing third, as Holmwood Tech's Oliver Christie overtook Uzoh right at the finish.
St. Jago's splits were 49.2 (Clayon Bailey), 46.4 (Riker Hylton), 49.6 (Kenrick Rose) and 47.8 (Nevers).
