Tears, cheers, boos at Independence Mall

Inquirer staff writer Melissa Dribben reports:

The crowd of hundreds at Independence Mall booed when Vice President Dick Cheney was introduced and cheered when President-elect Obama was shown on screen.

Amanda Saslow of Germantown, who owns a vintage clothing store in Center City and doesn’t own a television, said “my husband and I are not TV people, but this is definitely a TV moment.”
“I really wanted to be a part of this,” she said as she fought back tears. People finally got it. Not only did we get part of the old administration, but we have someone who thinks like us, has a family like us, who is not a ruling elite. He’s just a regular American who’s intelligent and ready to lead.”.
