And now we have a poll of the Philadelphia suburbs, one of the key areas in the battle for Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes. It shows Barack Obama leading John McCain 59 per cent to 36 per cent, which is more than enough (if it works that way on Election Day) to win the state for him.

This survey of voters in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties was done by the students of Gwynedd Mercy College adjunct professor Terry Kent Wimmer over the weekend.

Not the most scientific poll, perhaps. Of the 605 registered voters polled, nearly 70 per cent were women, which, obviously, is not reflective of the electorate as a whole. The distribution of the voters among the four counties was reasonably close to actual populations. Nearly 98 per cent of those contacted said they planned to vote, which probably won't happen but indicates the continuing high level of interest in the election.

That may be, but b/c the media does not do it's job. If they did, then Hillary would be our nominee. Here is a quick look into 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have brought down Wall Street: Franklin Raines was a Chairman and CEO at Fannie Mae. Raines was FORCED to retire from Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe IRREGULARITIES in Fannie Maes accounting activities. News reports indicate the company was under growing pressure from regulators to shake up its management in the wake of findings that the company's books ran afoul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years." Fannie Mae had to reduce its surplus by $9 BILLION!! Raines left with a "golden parachute valued at $240 MILLION in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear. http://housingdoom.com/2006/12/18/fannie-charges/ . These charges were made in 2006. The Court ordered Raines to return $50 Million Dollars he received in bonuses based on the miss-stated Fannie Mae profits.

heh.. The Obama/Raines lie again? I shook hands with John Street once, does that mean I shoved a reporter? btw - I didn't vote for Street, but I am voting for Obama.

There is no way McCain or Obama would win by that big of a margin in the Suburbs. This poll (done by college students) and the fact the Inquirer reported it, is laughable.

Fascinating michaelskristen but who were the other two? You said there were three former CEOs. And aside from them getting their millions in golden parachutes what does that have to do with the election? And haven'tt the Clintons been accused of hanging around some less than scrupulous characters themselves?

Obama's enemy is time. Every day, voters find out more about Obama's friends, voter fraud at ACORN, being discipled in the ideals of Alinsky, being drafted into politics by Ayers, the Senate election against Ryan, the public record of his $130K from Fannie/Freddie and on and on and on.

McCain's enemy is issues. He's on the wrong side of all of them. It's still a long time until the election but Pennsylvania will go BIG for Obama! Book it!

Gibba, you are clueless (I could tell from previous posts). Obama will NOT win PA. Mark my words. He got clobbered here in the primary and has not made end roads with the voters he needs to win. PA is McCain country!! I work in MontCo and there are a TON of McCain signs all around here.

I'm going to the rally on Wednesday in Lehigh. It's called a *Victory* rally because that is what John McCain will have on Tuesday evening.

bd1979 I live in Montco and I see a ton of Obama signs all around as well. So your argument that "Pa is McCain country" does not hold much water. Nice try. McCain's campaign is out of ideas and desperate. And with the market taking another huge hit his chances are sinking faster than a pair of cement boots.

I live in Bucks and have seen just two Obama signs to 20-30+ McCain signs. "What has Obama done for YOU lately?" A direct quote from a former liberal for McCain. He left the party in 2005.

who's going to entertain the 1500 at that mccain rally in lehigh county? george strait, or ted nugent? it better not be at 430, that's when the restaurants up there have their early bird specials. will the nra be there to sign people up? will sarah do her beauty pageant act? will the army be there to recruit our kids for 100 more years of war? will they allow any minorities in besides the 4 they find to place behind the cameras? sounds like a hoot!

Everyone of by repub friends are voting Dem this time around for prez. In thier own words, Obama/Biden are the only viable choice. I think the nail in the coffin for them was the Palin pick, anyone with half a brain saw that for what it was.

Obama will NOT win PA. Mark my words....Pennsylvanians have seen McCain for what he is, empty of ideas or solutions on how to rebuild America after the Republican Party dessimated it. Even my parents who are life-long Republicans have said "enough is enough" with the GOP. They will be voting for Obama this election in hopes that it sends the GOP a message: "Get serious about governing and we will support you." McCain and Palin are gimmicks.

Haha, this poll is a joke! College kids probably polling their "hip", MTV watching, "rebelling against the establishment", no real world experience friends. Hey, I was one of those people, but I lived, and I learned. Anyways, No matter how the media tries to slant the polls, Obama's "lead" will progressively evaporate over the next month. Do not be shocked if McCain wins handily. McCain is a leader. Obama is not. It's not all about the issues. IT NEVER HAS BEEN. Character, and leadership comes into play. If Obama somehow manages to get elected, the United States will become weak and you will all realize you've made a bad choice.

If ONLY the Media was Fair/Honest/Balanced, McCain would be ahead, here's the hope people see thru the promises, media bs.

let’s delve into mccain’s background and examine his record: 1) what is his relationship with white supremist richard quinn, whose company he has given almost $200,000 and whose firm committed computer and electronic fraud? 2) or with jeb bush, fife symington, darrow tully, the bonanno crime family and convicted racketeer charles keating, 3) has an again/off again position on roe vs. wade that changes as easily as he changes his religious affiliation – i’m a episcopalian, … no, a baptist, 4) (a southern gotcha for the followers of quinn?), 5) his military record has been redacted to hide the numerous lies about his flight record, 6) he knowingly misrepresents the number of flights he has taken, 7) he claims flights taken by the men under him were in fact his, 8) divulged confidential information to the enemy to save his hide while a pow, 9) how he was promoted (even though he was 5 from the bottom of 800 in his class) because of nepotism. let’s talk about his recent spin on family values: leaving out the sordid details of both his adulterous marriages (wife #1 was married at the time they met) and go straight to cindy who he’s cheated on too), who was investigated for stealing drugs that should have benefitted third world countries, the termination of tom gosinski “on budgetary grounds” after her addiction was discovered, or how she invested well over $1 million into keating’s projects to influence deregulation. are you covered with mud yet?

I've got a whole family -- 40+ adult registered voters, 11 US military vets -- who, like me, have voted Republican all their voting lives, and only one of them (a Navy man!) is still holding out for McCain. The rest of us are supporting Obama-Biden. It's painful to many of us, but the last 7+ years have simply been a mess, and for me at least, John's choice of Palin was a very, very bad decision. We don't need another bubblehead in the White House. John had all those great choices and he exercised amazingly poor judgment with Palin. Sorry Party, but I'm not with you this time.

What has john mccain done for YOU lately? Other than provide a few laughs, I mean. Mr. Anti-Earmark voted for a bailout bill that has earmarked pork in it. Then he says bush should veto it. What a jackass. If he were truly a maverick, he would have voted against the bill. Just proves how much of a fraud mcain is. Time is Obama's enemy? Yeah, with another few weeks he'd beat mccain by 75-25.

This particular poll is clearly unscientific and biased. However it is also clear that McCain's campaign is in real trouble and many unbiased, scientific polls have him trailing in virtually EVERY battleground state. McCain's ill advised choice of VP and bungling of the economic crisis have really damaged his chances. Look for McCain to abandon PA in the next two weeks to focus on Ohio, Virginia and Florida.
