Inquirer staff writer Kia Gregory reports:

7:26 a.m.

The excitement is taking the edge off the cold. People are bundled up with hats and scarves but no one seems to be freezing. There’s a guy selling finger and toe warmers, taking advantage of the chilly day.

The Mt. Airy group (which left Philadelphia by bus shortly after 2 a.m) and is walking toward the mall, breaking out into cheers. They’re calm, but energized and happy. We are now at 3rd and E. Streets, and so far we have walked about 6 blocks.

No one in the group has an official inaugural ticket,  so we’re being herded into an area on the Mall, but we’re not sure where we’re going to end up.

There are thousands of people surrounding the Mt. Airy group.
