I arrived a few minutes ago at John McCain's rally in Downingtown and was pleased to receive the unusual press credential being handed out. In addition to "Country First" and the names of McCain and Palin it includes a photographic image of the Phillie Phanatic, which seems highly appropriate on Day One of the Phillies' reign as National League champions.
Then I looked more carefully at the photo and saw that the Phanatic was wearing a white McCain-Palin t-shirt. My guess is that this is a photo-shop image and that the Phanatic didn't actually don the t-shirt. But I don't know that.
Getting anyone with the Phillies to comment on this may be a little difficult, given what happened last night. And they may consider it a harmless expression of Phillies fever. But we'll see what develops.

Reason #512 to hate John McCain : Besmirching our beloved mascot !! MrMayhem
disqusting, McMummy and the Stepford Wife are determined to bring their politics into the sports arenas..... btw--- who was running Alaska, Sarah Stepford or her husband???? wldraven
I wonder if it would have been "highly inappropriate" if the image were with Obama campaign?? LOL. You guys are partisan hacks! chrissmith
Talk about much ado about nothing. And since when do people need permission to use songs at campaign stops? It's not like they are being sold for a profit without permission. Or illegally downloaded. Jeez. Ramon
Well if these posts do not show how classless Obama supporters are, nothing does. At least McCain does not wear the name of a fallen soldier on his wrist against the wishes of the soldier's parents. Grow up. Fear not, the Phanatic is apolitical and, like most Obama supporters, asexual as well. stop2think

The Phanatic is more qualified than Obama to be president. Also he lives down the street from me, and has a McCain sign outside his house. kmjm22- stop2think is spot on. The folks who have taken a big swig of the Obama kool-aid, are quick with first grade name calling in their support of a candidate who'll essentially do nothing (except keep talking about 'hope' and 'change')for us over the next four years. Just because a campaign photo-shops an iconic image of the town is no reason to get all up in arms.
