Nader holds last minute press conference/rally at Independence Mall, but no press
On the eve of election day. third party presidential candidate Ralph Nader planned to hold a press conference on the terrace of the Independence Center overlooking the mall and Independence Hall. The event, which was to have started at three o'clock was setback when the only people in in attendance were a newspaper photographer and a TV camerman. UPDATE: As the photo shows, Nader's press conference attracted little attention. Our inital report is below.

 

Ralph Nader is staging a last minute campaign rally/ press conference today in Center City at the Independence Visitors Center, 6th and Market Streets.

Nader, the longshot Independent candiate for president, has the support of a whopping 1 percent of likely voters, according to a Ipsos/McClatchy poll conducted on Sunday. His own campaign claims 7 percent of Pennsylvania voters as likely supporters.

Nader speaks at 3 p.m. at the Liberty Bell Terrace on a variety of topics including the economic crisis and the exclusion of third party candidates from the presidential debates.

At this point, I think Ralph needs to convince someone with more celebrity power than himself to run. He himself is never going to draw more than 1 or 2 percent, and 5% is the hump. Unfortunately, he's romanticized his importance and is doing third parties an absolute disservice. Nothing will take away from all he's done for the U.S., but at this point he's a good example why third parties aren't viable.

I believe in what Nader is saying, but unfortunately when he says it, it sounds like a cat dying. That man has the most annoying voice ever!

I think most Obama supporters despise Ralph Nader because he isn't part of the corporatist elite; Obama is 100%. Ralph knows that the Dems & Reps are two sides of the same sick coin that is slowly (mostly) killing this country.

What a shame, the very reason he runs - exclusion of anyone that is not part of the Dem or Repub corporations - costs him this humiliation. Don't like bailouts? Don't like the government being bought? Give Ralph a listen. I'll be voting for him tomorrow.

Nader...no way anyone can convince me that he was not the reason why we got stuck with Bush in 2000. No matter how much he tries to run form it, he is a reason for the problems we now have. What a pathetic man.

nader goes nowhere because he is denightyed no debate time or money by the corporate parties. clinton signed free not fair trade w/ mex and china. union jobs vs. slave labor. i can't wait to get to the polls and vote against that blowhard biden. 30 yrs in gov. and the only thing was to scare people about the undetctable weapon " the plastic GLOCK' FROM GERMANY. nader is the only person not paid for........thanks brian t. ....
