Peanut Chews candy are a Philadelphia institution. In 2003, Just Born, the Bethlehem, Pa., firm that makes the widely popular marshmallow Peeps, bought the company that produced Peanut Chews in Philadelphia since the early 20th century. The factory, however, remains in the city.

As part of his plan to fight crime in Philadelphia, Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has vowed to make police officers more visible, including having more cops walk the beat. Officer Al Foster, 39, has been doing just that along Woodland Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia since 2006.
