Rover.com offers a dog lover community for owners and sitters

Rover.com, the site that connects you with a special sitter in your area, began when co-founder Greg Gottesman’s dog got injured while at an upscale Seattle boarder.

Here's the scenario: You have to travel and your precious pup can't come along. Afraid to put him in the kennel for fear of inadequate treatment and unwilling to impose upon your neighbor to watch your dog for a week, you've come to an impasse. In steps Rover.com, the site that connects you with a special sitter in your area.

Rover.com began when co-founder Greg Gottesman's dog got injured while at an upscale Seattle boarder. After launching in 2011, the site has experienced exponential success, seeing an 800 percent revenue increase in 2013.

It works like this: Rover.com staff hand pick sitters who are passionate about dogs. Before you leave, you meet with your sitter to make sure everyone gets along. While you're away, your sitter texts you doggy updates and when you return you receive a Rover Reel, video highlights of your dogs stay.

There are currently nearly 9,000 Rover.com members in Philadelphia with over 500 sitters in the area.
