The deadliest incidents for firefighters

Nineteen firefighters died battling a wildfire in Arizona over the weekend, the deadliest incident for firefighters since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, there have been 40 other disasters in the United States in which eight or more firefighters were killed. Six of those incidents -- 15 percent of the total -- happened in the Philadelphia region. That's more than anywhere in the country other than Chicago, where six of the deadliest disasters occurred in the city, and one in a southwest suburb.
