Here's your daily look at five stories we're following:

1. Mayoral race: Former City Solicitor Ken Trujillo is set to announce his entry in the 2015 mayoral race at a news conference this morning, becoming the second Democrat to officially enter the contest and the first Latino to run for Philadelphia's highest elected office.

2. Genius grants: University of Pennsylvania brain researcher Danielle S. Bassett is among the 21 recipients announced today of the so-called "genius" fellowships from the MacArthur Foundation.

3. Cigarette tax: The Pennsylvania House could vote on a $2-per-pack tax on cigarettes to raise money for Philadelphia schools as early as today, after a committee approved the measure on Tuesday.

4. Airport rally: Low-wage employees for airlines and subcontractors who work at the Philadelphia International Airport are slated to hold a rally this morning, pushing for higher wages.

5. Center City assault: Police are searching for the suspects who attacked a gay couple in Center City. Officials have released surveillance video, and social media users shared a photo of some of the same people having a fancy dinner before the assault.
