#PhillyFive Developing Stories: April 28, 2015

Your early look at the day's developing stories.

1.) Baltimore riots: The nation's long-simmering tensions over inner-city policing boiled over in the streets of a major American city yesterday, as large bands of youths roamed the streets of Baltimore, hurled rocks at cops, set police cruisers and then a city block on fire, and looted stores in the biggest U.S. urban uprising in more than two decades.

3.) Hamels' win: In the bottom of the seventh inning last night, Cole Hamels toed the rubber for just the second time this season with a lead. A three-run top of the seventh in the Phillies' 4-1 win matched the team's combined run support for its ace over his first four starts. Hamels' win was his first in seven outings dating to last season. It came against the Cardinals on the same day the St. Louis ball club officially lost ace Adam Wainwright for the rest of the season.

4.) Papal volunteers: Area residents can be a part of the city's next historic chapter by volunteering for the World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis' visit this fall. "I finally have an answer to the question I get asked every day: 'How can I help?' " said Donna Crilley Farrell, executive director of the WMOF. "The answer is volunteer."

5.) Nepal earthquake: As Nepal struggles to get food, water and emergency supplies to remote areas devestated by Saturday's quake that left more than 4,400 dead, Philadelphia-area Nepalis are worried about their relatives and homeland, saying it has been difficult to contact those abroad.
