5 stories to follow: Oct. 15

Here's your daily round-up of five stories to know about:

1. Final gubernatorial debate: Tonight is the final debate for New Jersey's Republican Gov. Chris Christie and his Democratic challenger, Barbara Buono. The pair will face off at Montclair State University at 8 p.m.

2. School bus beating: Police are investigating after a video was posted to Facebook showing students being taunted -- and one being punched in the face -- on a school bus in Chester.

3. N.J. Senate race: It's the final full day of campaigning for Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Steve Lonegan in their race for New Jersey's open U.S. Senate seat. So far this week, they've crossed the state, each using the fiscal crisis in D.C. as an argument for electing him. The special election to succeed the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg takes place Wednesday (the Republican National Committee sent an erroneous tweet Monday, urging voters to head to the polls today).

4. Women in business: The Forum of Executive Women is releasing its annual report today on women in business leadership. The forum, which has been studying women's leadership in region since 2005, says there has been some progress, but not enough, and it takes a sponsor's advocacy to push women into top leadership roles.

5. Same-sex marriage in N.J.: A group of same-sex New Jersey couples is set to file legal papers today, stating why the state should grant them marriage licenses. The brief is the latest court filing over gay marriage in the state; New Jersey's high court is already considering whether it must let same-sex couples wed.
