5 stories to follow: Nov. 22

Happy Friday. Here's your rundown of five stories to know about today:

1. JFK remembered: Today marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Here's a look back at the aftermath of the tragedy in Philadelphia. And even a half-century later, new conspiracy theories continue to emerge.

2. 30th Street entrance opening: The west entrance to 30th Street Station -- closed for renovations for the past year -- reopens today, in time for the busy holiday travel season.

3. Science prize: Three Philadelphia scientists will receive the prestigious John Scott Award today, an honor created in 1822 to recognize "ingenious men and women who make useful inventions." The Wright brothers, Thomas Edison and Jonas Salk are past recipients, and this year's honorees are Penn biochemist P. Leslie Dutton, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia surgeon-in-chief N. Scott Adzick and former Thomas Jefferson University pediatrics chairman Robert L. Brent.

4. PSU trustees: The Pennsylvania State University's full board of trustees meets today, and the search for a new school president is likely to be a key topic.

5. Supply drive winds down: Today is the final day to donate supplies for Philadelphia public schools in a drive launched in September by Interstate General Media (the parent company of the Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com) and Global Citizen, a Philadelphia civic-engagement organization.
