1. Gay marriage and the Supreme Court:The Supreme Court hears oral arguments on two same-sex marriage cases today and Wednesday. Today, the justices where will consider California's Proposition 8, the 2008 voter initiative that recognizes marriages only between a man and a woman and ended same-sex marriage in the state. On Wednesday, the court will hear arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act, which bars same-sex couples from receiving the same federal benefits as heterosexual couples. 2. N.J.'s newest millionaire: Pedro Quezada, the winner of the $338 million Powerball jackpot, bought his winning ticket in Passaic. He says helping his family is his first priority.

3. Revel in bankruptcy: The struggling Atlantic City casino formally filed for Chapter 11 late Monday night.

4. Pennsylvania Supreme Court vacancy: Justice Joan Orie Melvin, who was convicted last month of public corruption charges, resigned Monday. Now, there are questions about who will replace her, and how that justice will be named. Gov. Corbett says he will name someone shortly after Melvin's May 1 effective resignation date. But state Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Castille indicated the court might name a senior judge to fill the position.

5. Breaking overnight - Another Amanda Knox trial: Italy's highest court overturned the American student's acquittal in the killing of her British roommate and ordered a new trial. The court said an appeals court must re-hear the high-profile case against Knox and her ex-boyfriend in the 2007 slaying of 21-year-old Meredith Kercher.
