5 stories to follow: June 3

Welcome back from the weekend. To kick off your Monday, here are five stories we're following today:

1. Kai the Hitchhiker in court: The Internet sensation known as "Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker" is due in a Union County, N.J., courtroom today to face a murder charge. Caleb McGillivary, 24, was apprehended in Philadelphia last month and is accused of killing a 73-year-old lawyer.

2. Church closings reaction: The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced more church mergers on Sunday, which will affect 27 parishes. The mergers, effective July 1, involve parishes in Northeast, Northwest and West Philadelphia, and in Delaware County.

3. U.S. Open: You can still grab tickets to the golf tournament, which takes place later this month at the Merion Golf Club. But prices are sky high, especially compared with previous years. Meanwhile, we ask some local club professionals who they think will take the title, and experts say the tournament could pump $100 million into the regional economy.

4. Paranoid prostitutes?: A South Jersey woman is suing a swanky Miami hotel after several prostitutes allegedly attacked her in the lobby, thinking she was competition.

5. Wikileaks trial: The trial for Army Pfc. Bradley Manning begins today for the largest leak of classified intelligence in U.S. history. Manning has admitted to sending information to the website WikiLeaks and pleaded guilty to some offenses, but is still facing trial for a charge of aiding the enemy. That offense carries a potential life sentence if he's convicted.
