5 stories to follow: July 9

Here's your look at five stories we're following today:

1. Fatal fire aftermath: City officials have released recordings of the 911 calls made about the weekend fire on Gesner Street in Southwest Philadelphia that killed four young children. Liberian Ambassador Jeremiah Sulunteh was among those who visited the site of the deadly blaze on Tuesday, and is scheduled to meet with city officials today.

2. Showboat protest: The union that represents about 900 workers at Showboat hotel and casino in Atlantic City is planning a protest this evening over Caesars Entertainment Corp.'s plan to close the venue. Caesars, meanwhile, has confirmed it is open to selling the Showboat to prevent it from shutting down.

3. State rep in court: Pennsylvania State Rep. Jose "J.P." Miranda is due to appear in court today, after a judge issued a bench warrant for him when he missed a Tuesday pretrial hearing. Miranda is facing charges of conflict of interest, perjury and conspiracy for an alleged scheme that funneled money to his sister.

4. Veterans' memory treatment: In a major project being announced today, the University of Pennsylvania will lead an effort to treat memory problems in veterans.

5. N.J. Transit budget: New Jersey Transit's board of directors is set to meet today, and expected to approve a budget that includes no fare hike for the fifth-straight year.
