1. Winter storm: A winter storm is threatening to dump a significant amount of snow across the Philadelphia area, with the possibility for some places to get up to 11 inches. John Bolaris will live chat through the storm on Philly.com from 2 p.m. to midnight. And some school districts have already announced closures or early dismissals.

3. Widener shooting: A student was shot on Widener University's Chester campus Monday night, and police are looking for the gunman.

4. Marcellus Shale certification program: A program that aims to certify Marcellus Shale natural gas producers that follow environmental best practices is slated to start today. The Center for Sustainable Shale Development, led by Philadelphia environmental lawyer Susan Packard LeGros, will begin taking applications for its verification program.

5. Abuse of sick, elderly: More than 73,000 Philadelphians have severe disabilities and require help managing their Social Security benefits, which pay for food, housing and personal care.
