PMC Group to buy business unit from Arkema

The Mount Laurel performance chemicals maker will acquire Arkema's tin stabilizer business, which has annual sales of about $220 million.

Mount Laurel-based PMC Group agreed to acquire the tin stabilizer business of Arkema, a French chemical company.

In a statement, Arkema said that the business, which makes products used in the manufacture of PVC and by automobile companies, generates about $220 million in sales. The business employs 234 people at four locations, including Carrollton, Ky., and Mobile, Ala.

Terms of the sale, which is expected to occur this fall, were not disclosed.

PMC is a privately held company that makes performance chemicals and plastics. Founded in 1994 by a former technology chief at PPG Industries, PMC has completed several acquisitions in recenty years, including the purchase of a chemicals business from Chemtura Corp., which is based in Center City.
