You really do need a scorecard to keep up with all of the awards programs this time of year.

The Eastern Technology Council held its 16th annual Enterprise Awards at the Kimmel Center Tuesday evening. Eleven companies and executives received awards which the council says celebrate the "vitality of the technology and life sciences communities."

I'd say the awards this year tilted more toward information technology than life-science companies.

The Technology CEO of the Year was Ned Moore, of Portico Systems Inc., a Blue Bell company that has gotten financial backing from Safeguard Scientifics Inc.

Portico is a software company focused on the health insurance industry. It had $10.2 million in revenue and 110 employees in 2007.

The Life Sciences CEO of the Year was Christopher M. Cashman, of Protez Pharmaceuticals, the Malvern antibiotics developer that was acquired by Novartis last June in a deal valued at up to $400 million.

Protez won a 2007 Enterprise Award as an emerging life-sciences company. So it goes to show that you can go from "emerging" to "merging" in less than a year.

Here's who picked up the rest of the hardware:

* Technology Company: Precyse Solutions, Wayne.

* Emerging Technology Company: StarCite Inc., Philadelphia.

* Technology Startup Company: Moda Technology Partners, Wayne.

* Applied Technology Excellence: CeeLite LLC, Blue Bell.

* Life Sciences Company: Globus Medical Inc., Audubon, Pa.

* Emerging Life Sciences Company: Laureate Pharma Inc., Princeton.

* Life Sciences Startup Company: Neuro Diagnostic Devices, Philadelphia.

* Legend Award for Lifetime Achievement: Lawrence D. Alexander, director of advanced technology at Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services.

* Enterpriser Award for World-Class Talent: Leo Daiuto, corporate vice president at Unisys Corp., Blue Bell.

The Eastern Technology Council represents more than 600 technology and life-sciences firms in the region.
