Drexel coach Bruiser Flint was named national coach of the week by the Hoops Report. Flint led the Dragons to a 52-46 win at No. 20 Louisville, and also a victory at St. Francis (Pa.). Also, Dragons senior guard Gerald Colds was picked CAA co-player of the week, after scoring 20 points against Louisville... Read more

Dunphy applauds Owls' fans

Friday, December 17, 2010, 5:26 PM
It was wonderful to see so many fans in the stands for our win over Georgetown. Clearly the atmosphere contributed to the team's success and for that I am grateful. The support for our team on that night was special, and made the victory more meaningful as the entire Temple community shared in the... Read more

Duren has Explorers on move

Friday, December 17, 2010, 12:34 PM
La Salle senior guard Ruben Guillandeaux has returned to the starting lineup after a stress fracture in his right foot that limited his 2009-10 season to four games, but maybe the most pressure being felt by any Explorer is on freshman point guard Tyreek Duren. All Duren, a former star at Neumann-Goretti... Read more

Big East/SEC Challenge expands

Thursday, December 16, 2010, 9:55 PM
Villanova was not part of this year's SEC/Big East event, but expect that to change moving forward. The two conferences announced today that the SEC/Big East Challenge will feature 12 games during the week after Thanksgiving in 2011. Every team from the SEC will be involved against 12 of the 16 Big... Read more

How good is 'Nova? Not sure yet

Thursday, December 16, 2010, 2:25 PM
So, a little over one month into a season that still has about four more to go, how good is Villanova? Fair question, even though it’s really way too early to jump to conclusions either way. The Wildcats were picked to finish second in the Big East, behind Pitt, which sounded about right at... Read more

Owls' Allen an unsung hero

Wednesday, December 15, 2010, 1:23 PM
Just a leftover thought from last week’s Selection Sunday kind of win over Georgetown, the third consecutive December that Fran Dunphy’s guys have handed a Top 10 opponent its first loss of the season at the Liacouras Center. I know that for 4 years now most people, including me at times... Read more

Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 12:47 PM
Drexel takes its 6-1 record to Louisville tonight (ESPNU, 9 o’clock). Even though the Dragons have played at Kentucky and Memphis in recent seasons, surely some of the expected 22,000 fans in the new KFC Yum! Center will ask “Where’s Drexel?” Dragons coach Bruiser Flint thinks... Read more

Temple routs Akron

Sunday, December 12, 2010, 4:51 PM
Former NBA superstar Hakeem Olajuwon is Nigerian. So is Temple’s 6-11 junior center, Micheal Eric. Until this afternoon, no one had thought to mention Eric in the same breath with “The Dream,” at least on offense. It isn’t apt to happen often; Eric came into the game against... Read more

McCoy leading Drexel to strong start

Friday, December 10, 2010, 3:31 PM
A big reason for Drexel’s 5-1 start is Daryl McCoy’s play. Last season, the 6-9 McCoy was just big physically. Now, during his sophomore season, McCoy is contributing more scoring and rebounding. With career-highs 15 points and 18 rebounds McCoy was a force in the Dragons 62-50 recent victory over... Read more
