Temple-Penn highlight tonight's schedule


Four games on the college hoops calendar Wednesday, including a Big 5 game between Penn and Temple. La Salle and Saint Joseph’s are looking for Atlantic 10 Conference victories while Drexel has a tough Colonial Athletic Association game at George Mason, which is 8-0 at home this season.

Notes: Hawks have lost four straight games, including a 67-51 defeat at Saint Louis on Saturday. Carl Jones led the Hawks with 10 points . . . Rhode Island’s Orion Outerbridge is the A-10 Player of the Week. The 6-9 forward averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds and shot 70.6 percent in a 2-0 week.

Notes: Second meeting between Owls coach Fran Dunphy and Penn coach Jerome Allen, who played for Dunphy at Penn. Temple won first meeting last year at Palestra, 60-45. Temple, which was ranked 19th, dropped out of Top 25 after losing at Duquesne on Saturday. Temple has won 15 straight home games, the second-longest streak in Liacouras Center history. Quakers plan to ride the subway from University City to North Broad Street.

Notes: The game is a late start for TV in the Washington area. The Dragons are coming off 80-66 loss at William<TH>&<TH>Mary on Saturday. Drexel’s Gerald Colds made seven three-pointers and scored a career-high 22 points. The Dragons are third in the nation in three-point defense (.259) . . . Mason senior guard Cam Long, who made All-CAA team last year, leads Patriots in scoring at 14.5 per game. GMU is 8-0 at home this season.
