Penn needs more from Bernardini

Zack Rosen and Jack Eggleston are very good Ivy League players. Rosen is in the running for Player of the Year. Eggleston figures to make all-league. Freshman Miles Cartwright is off to a great start. I like everything about his game.

You watch this team and the difference between last December and this is stark Nobody was having any fun then. Most everybody appears to be enjoying this season so far.

Credit goes to Jerome Allen and his coaching staff. Penn is well-organized and motivated to succeed.

But that will only take them so far. They need Tyler Bernardini to make shots, lots of shots. He has the great stroke. He has done it before. And he showed signs in the second half against Army that his shot might be ready to start falling.

Bernardini had some great looks in the games I’ve seen. Rosen is going to get everybody on this team great looks. Tyler’s shots all looked smooth enough to me. They were not bad shots. They were missing, but not by much.

Penn is an Ivy contender. If the Quakers are going to win the league, they will need Bernardini the scorer for those 14 games. And there are some indications that they may be getting him.
