Owls pick up player from Monmouth

Former Monmouth forward Dutch Gaitley will play for Temple this season after being granted a one-time transfer exception by the NCAA.

Gaitley, a 6-9, 240-pounder, graduated after 3 years at Monmouth. He is enrolled in Temple graduate school. Gaitley informed Monmouth in the spring that he would not return.

"Dutch is a hard-working, bright young man who will be a good addition to our program," Temple coach Fran Dunphy said in a statement.

Gaitley averaged 2.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 88 games at Monmouth. He is a 2006 graduate of Archbishop Carroll High.

Gaitley is the son of third-year Monmouth women's basketball coach Stephanie Gaitley, former head women's coach at Saint Joseph.

In other Owls news, individual game tickets for the men's and women's basketball teams will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Liacouras Center box office.
