Owls' Allen named Big 5 Player of Week

Temple senior forward Lavoy Allen has been named Big 5 Player of the Week. Allen averaged 18 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Owls. He scored 17 points and had 13 rebounds in a loss at top-ranked Duke. He scored 19 points and had 16 rebounds in a win at George Washington. He had three blocks in that victory and became the fifth Temple player to reach 200 career blocked shots.

On the Big 5 men's honor roll:

La Salle senior forward Jerrell Williams, who averaged 13 points in a 1-1 week for the Explorers. In a win over UMass, he had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Saint Joseph's freshman guard Langston Galloway, who averaged 16.5 points in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. He scored a career-high 27 points in a win over St. Bonaventure, connecting on 8-of-13 from the floor and five three-pointers.

Penn junior guard Zack Rosen, who 17 points and had nine assists in Penn's 64-54 win over Columbia. Rosen had 22 points in the Quakers' 74-72 loss to Cornell.

Temple senior guard Qwedia Wallace has been named Big 5 Women's Player of the Week. Wallace scored 15 points, had six rebounds and had a game-high four steals in the Owls' 52-49 win at Saint Joseph's as they captured the Big 5 title. Wallace scored 22 points in Temple's 73-66 loss to No. 6 Xavier, the first loss for the Owls in 2011. She was 6-of-6 at the line, grabbed nine rebounds and became Temple's all-time leader in career three-pointers with 155.
