La Salle transfer granted waiver

La Salle junior Ramon Galloway has been granted a hardship waiver from the NCAA and is eligible to compete during the 2011-12 season, coach Dr. John Giannini announced.

Galloway, a native Philadelphia who went to high school in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., spent the past two seasons at South Carolina and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Galloway, a 6-2 guard, averaged 10.7 points per game for South Carolina last season, ranking third on the team. He added 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists and connected on 44 three-pointers.

"I'm extremely happy to be able to play this season," Galloway said. "Returning home to help my family is important to me and I'm thankful that the waiver from the NCAA allows me the opportunity to complete my degree in 2 years."

As a freshman at South Carolina, Galloway averaged 7.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
