There are three games on the schedule today, all part of something bigger. La Salle and Saint Joseph's are playing in the 24-hour hoops marathon put together by ESPN. Villanova is playing in the Preseason NIT. La Salle's opponent, Baylor, is nationally ranked.

Notes: The game is part of ESPN’s 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Explorers freshman guard Tyreek Duren (Ss. Neumann-Goretti High) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week yesterday. He had eight points and nine assists in the season-opening 82-71 victory over Columbia ... La Salle senior guard Ruben Guillandeaux was selected Big 5 player of the week. He scored 29 points against Columbia ... Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn was suspended for three games after he was arrested last month after police accused him of breaking his girlfriend’s jaw in a domestic dispute. The woman, Lacharlesla Edwards, said Dunn didn’t hit her and her jaw wasn’t broken. She is the mother of Dunn’s 3-year-old son.

Notes: The game is part of Preseason NIT. Second game of Pavilion doubleheader is Boston University vs. George Washington at 8 o’clock. Winners play tomorrow night at Pavilion to advance to semifinals at Madison Square Garden. Tonight’s losing teams also play tomorrow. ’Nova opened season with 68-52 win over Bucknell, Jay Wright’s alma mater.

Notes: The game is part of College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Hawks lost opener for first time in 6 years, 98-70, to Western Kentucky. Hawks’ Carl Jones had 17 points, one shy of his career high . . . Penn State won its seventh straight season opener, 70-56, over defending Patriot League champion Lehigh. Talor Battle led the Nittany Lions with 21 points.
