La Salle, Penn play tonight

Tonight in local college basketball, La Salle plays host to Towson and Penn visits Marist. La Salle is looking to get above the .500 mark while Penn is 5-4 and has won three of four games.

Notes: La Salle's Ruben Guillandeaux has made a three-pointer in his last 16 games and 20 of his last 21. Guillandeaux (952 points) and Jerrell Williams (939) are approaching 1,000 career points. Last meeting between teams was Jan. 12, 1983, when La Salle College beat Towson State, 79-78. Towson is coached by Pat Kennedy, who has coached at Iona, Florida State, DePaul and Montana. Kennedy is in his seventh season with the Tigers and is 22nd among active coaches with 484 victories.

Notes: This will be the first meeting. Penn junior guard Zack Rosen is Big 5 and Ivy League player of the week after scoring 30 points against Delaware. Penn has won three of four. Red Foxes third-year coach Chuck Martin was an assistant for 3 years at Drexel under Bruiser Flint. Sophomore guard Sam Prescott (Imhotep Charter) is the Red Foxes' second-leading scorer, averaging 9.1 points.
