La Salle's Steve Zack likely to miss Atlantic 10 Tournament

La Salle sophomore big man Steve Zack sat out the final two games of the regular season with a sprained ligament in his left foot. He almost certainly will be sitting out this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament in Brooklyn as well.

"I don't think he's going to play," La Salle coach John Giannini said Tuesday. "Our plan with him is to evaluate him week to week. We certainly don't want to put him out there before he's ready. We do think it's a week to week thing. Right now, it doesn't look good for this week [unless] there's not some kind of dramatic progress made in the next couple of days."

La Salle will just play on. The Explorers have a bye into Friday's quarterfinals at the Barclays Center. They will play the winner of Thursday's Butler-Dayton game.

"We have played well without him," Giannini said. "It's all part of the game. You can't feel sorry for yourself and you move ahead. We played very well against [George Washington] without Steve and didn't play well at Saint Louis without him. But then there's a bunch of teams in our league that haven't played well at Saint Louis. We love Steve. He's not only a big player and a good player, but he's a young player and he's a big part of our present and our future."

The numbers without Zack in last week's games are concerning. La Salle was outscored, 100-52, in the lane as one of their help/basket defenders was on the bench in a walking boot.
