La Salle signs shooting guard from Minnesota

La Salle announced that D.J. Peterson, a 6-5 guard from Minnetonka, Minn., has signed a national letter of intent.

Peterson played last season at Lee Academy, a prep school in Maine, where he averaged 15 points per game while shooting 40 percent from three-point range.

He led Hopkins High to a 61-2 record and consecutive state championships as a junior and senior. He earned all-state honors after averaging 14 points, six rebounds and five assists as a senior.

"We recruited D.J. out of high school and prep school because he is the type of person and player we want in our program," Explorers coach Dr. John Giannini said in a statement. "He is a complete guard with good size who can dribble, pass, shoot and defend.

"As a person, he is bright, personable, and passionate about basketball. I am very excited about D.J. joining us. I expect him to make a positive contribution to our team next year and to have an excellent playing career."
