Explorers get, then drop, 6-8 transfer

Yesterday afternoon, La Salle University sent out a news release saying the basketball program had landed Christian Standhardinger, a 6-8 transfer from Nebraska.

Last night, however, Explorers coach John Giannini issued a statement that the forward from Munich will not be attending La Salle.

"Christian has recently been made aware of a personal situation that demands his full attention," Giannini said. "We believe it is in the best interest of all parties that Christian Standhardinger does not attend La Salle University."

It is not known what Standhardinger's "personal situation" is.

Standhardinger was believed to have enrolled for the spring semester and would have been eligible in December.

He averaged 9.5 points in six games for the Cornhuskers this season. Last season, he averaged 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game. He had a season-best 25 points and eight rebounds at Iowa State.
