Drexel wins CAA Tournament opener

Samme Givens scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half Friday, leading Drexel to a 75-69 victory over Towson in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament in Richmond, Va.

The fifth-seeded Dragons will play No. 4-seed VCU on Saturday in the quarterfinals at 2:30.

Givens also grabbed 14 rebounds and the fifth-seeded Dragons (21-9) got 15 points from Chris Fouch and 13 from Frantz Massenat in winning their fourth consecutive game.

Towson (4-26) lost for the 19th time in as many games against CAA opponents this year.
