3 Philly players named to USA team

Temple’s Lavoy Allen, Syracuse’s Scoop Jardine and Kansas’ Marcus Morris—all with ties to Philadelphia—have been named to a 20-man USA men’s select basketball team that will train against the National Team July 19-24 in Las Vegas.

      Temple’s Lavoy Allen, Syracuse’s Scoop Jardine and Kansas’ Marcus Morris—all with ties to Philadelphia—have been named to a 20-man USA men’s select basketball team that will train against the National Team July 19-24 in Las Vegas.

     Villanova’s Jay Wright and Washington’s Lorenzo Romar will serve as co-head coaches.

In scheduling news, La Salle will play host to Prairie View A&M in the first round of the Cancun Challenge on Nov. 18 at Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers also will host Morgan State on Nov. 20. The tournament then switches to Mexico, where La Salle will play Providence on Nov. 23. La Salle will play either Missouri or Wyoming on Nov. 24.

Penn will play Army in the first game of a doubleheader at noon on Dec. 4 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The second game will be a rematch of the NCAA title game between Duke and Butler.
