We knew about Billie Holiday, who would've been 100 years old last month. She is considered one of the best and most influential jazz singers of all time.

Our hometown band, The Roots, has finally made it. They've developed into one of the best known and most respected hip-hop bands in the business.

Cinderella, a glam metal and hard rock band from the Philly suburbs who rocked us with heart-melting hits like "Nobody's Fool," made several multi-platinum records and played on heavy rotation on early MTV.

They gave us "Disco Inferno," and The Trammps still remain one of the biggest and most soulful vocal groups in history.

Andrea McArdle rocketed to stardom as Broadway's original "Annie," for which she was the youngest performer ever nominated for the Tony Award for best actress in a musical.

The Philly-born Ray Benson is considered a giant in the music industry with his world-renowned Western swing band, Asleep at the Wheel.

He spent more than half a century behind the microphone, and now Harvey Holiday has made it to the Walk of Fame. Holiday kept us entertained on 98.1 WOGL with his oldies jock, broadcasting 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
