Phillies 1980 World Series champion Steve Carlton will throw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight prior to Game 4.  Catching the toss from "Lefty" will be fellow Southpaw Jamie Moyer.

"Lefty" better be careful, or Cholly may draft him for middle relief.

Can't they convince him to be the "special pitching consultant" next spring and teach a third pitch -- either that devastating slider and/or his curveball -- to Hamels? (- along with sharing his legendary focus, two things that Hamels DEFINITELY needs?) Is Gus Hoeffling still alive???

Get him ready for game 7. I'd rather see a 60yo. Carlton than Hamels at this point.

misterpet.. I just said pretty much the same thing.. I was hoping after he throws out the 1st pitch that they just leave him in there. He'll be in the 8th with a 1-0 lead and Manuel would probably pull him.

Meanwhile, your humble author, otherwise known as "Chubby", will be throwing out the first thong at the Cave later tonight.

Having witnessed history creates curious thoughts. If Carlton had been in his prime this season, we would have seen the Yankees lose two games already to his amazing pitching. At the same time, the press people would still be snubbing him because he refused to join in the trash talk.
