Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has pledged a generous donation to the National Museum of American Jewish History, sources say. The museum is constructing a building on Independence Mall just a half block south of its location at 55 N. 5th Street. It hopes to open there in Fall 2010. A museum spokesman yesterday would neither confirm nor deny a Spielberg donation. "A significant gift is in the works," Rachel Levin, associate director of Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation confirmed last night, declining to reveal a specific dollar amount just yet. Other big donors to the museum include fashion mogul Sidney Kimmel, who gave $25 million, and Comcast-Spectacor boss Ed Snider, who donated $5 million.
