Q102's Booker fired after today's show
Q102 morning host Chris Booker was fired after today's show, along with co-host Angi Taylor and show producer Blaire Galaton. The station, which had recently demanded Booker play more music during the show, seeks to go to a more music-heavy format, we're told. Co-host Diego Ramos, who has been at the radio station since the mid-1990s will remain, and will serve in an unknown capacity at the station. Booker joined Q102 about two years ago and had a year left on his contract. Typically in radio if a host is fired on a management whim and not for any fault of his own, he would be paid out the life of his contract. Booker did not immediately return a request for comment this morning. Booker's girlfriend Alycia Lane, fired by CBS3 in January, is on a national search for a television job. With Booker's firing, the couple, which is quite serious, could end up leaving town if one or both land a job in another market. Meanwhile Angi Taylor, who appeared by Internet feed from Chicago during most of her time with the Booker Show, had only recently moved to Philadelphia and began working in studio with the show, so today's termination likely stings harder for her. Taylor did not respond to requests for comment this morning. All references to the Booker Show were removed from Q102.com this morning. "This was not a reflection on anybody's performance," Loraine Ballard Morrill a Clear Channel/Q102 spokeswoman told us moments ago. "We're looking at more programming options but in the meantime we're playing more music," said Morrill who said Booker wasn't fired, he's still considered an employee at the station. "So he'll be paid throughout his contract," we asked. Morrill said she couldn't discuss that. She did say that Taylor and Galaton were no longer Clear Channel employees.

UPDATE: Angi Taylor, who said fortunately she had actually not yet moved to town says she was shocked that "after bringing in the numbers this show achieved that we were all let go. I love Philly and I love Q. I also know it wasn't about us and I have to keep that in mind. I wish we had the chance to say goodbye to our listeners who are such a part of our lives, but I know that's not how it's done. I'll miss this job like crazy," Taylor told us today by e-mail.

i cant believe they fired booker! i woke up to him every morning and since its been summer i havent woken up during the early hours of the day but my first day of school i DIDNT HEAR BOOKER. i heard these annoying people on the air im like what the hellllllllll?!?!?! i will most likely not listen to q102 anymore because of their choice in firing chris booker and angie taylor. there was absolutely no reason and they definetly lost alot of fans... i mean we all recooped from chio and that took a while to get used to but atleast we have him on 96.5 but were completely losing angie and chris. i will greatly miss them and q102

I won't be listening to Q in the mornings anymore since they fired the Booker show. They made me laugh my A$$ off every morning, it was a good start to my day. I'm sure their ratings will go way down. What a stupid move on Clear Channels part. If I wanted to listen to all music in the morning I would have popped in a CD. Chio in the morning or Preston and Steve here I come.

I love Booker and all the morning show cast, including Diego. Not sure why everyone is down on him. They all made me laugh and I am at a loss in the morning. I don't want to listen to music. I have my ipod for that. I want to hear them talk and make me laugh. This is extremely disappointing news and I am not sure I can ever listen to Q again.

Its laughable that all of you are upset. They were nobodys and for anyone to think they should not have been fired makes me think who was the real fan base? Nerds? Booker was the only real celeberty but he was so full of himself and full of you know what. He would say these things to make himself look good but hes a real jerk I'm willing to bet. Q, next time, just dont pick random peoplen off the street to do your morning shows, look for some talent at least.

this is the biggest mistake they could have made. So long Q 102 in the AM. Your ratings are really going to suffer. Terrible move and someone else should get fired for this.

I just found out that the morning show with the exemption of Diego was fired. I am stunned but sooooooo glad. It is about time. I coudlnt stand anyone on that show. Booker was the most tollerable. But Blair and Angie really needed to go. Diego doesn't really contribute anything and he cant even keep marriage. I'm suprised that so many people are upset that they are gone. I am very happy to see them go. Its about time someone saw that their wasn't any real talent. Dont forget to let Jesse Jordan go and the others....I dont mean to sound mean, but I can't help I feel. I'm just being honest. Get some talent this time !!! (the other radio stations such as wired 95 should follow suite, because they stink too) ~Thirsty for talent in Philly

This is by far the dumbest move Q102 made. The only time I listened to q102 was when the Booker show was on. I didn't listen to any of the other djs and in the morning I don't want to listen to music. I need to hear people talk and make jokes and junk. Ugh, I can't listen to the crap music over and over and over and over again.. I may have to puke.

Glad they are gone... Blaire and Angi added nothing to the show except them whining and trying to get laid. Booker only wanted to talk about his pyscho g/f and you wonder why they got fired????

Instead of firing Booker, Angi, and Blair, someone in ClearChannel managment should be fired for the worst decision made !!! If I wanted to listen to music all morning, I would insert my CDs....many of the topics in the morning show, stirred dialog between my daughter & I as we drove in the mornings to school & work. I NO LONGER have Q102 preset on my radio....I've switch to Chio in the Morning ...

Preston & Steve here I come.... Clear Channel's genuis idea of removing the area's #1 morning show is just plain stupidity. The music variety is already minimal, so who the hell in their right mind wants to hear more of the already played out music over and over and over again? Do you think if KFC decided to stop selling chicken and push the sell of mashed potatoes, customers would keep flocking to their stores?...... NO because that would be an idiotic thing to do!!! Good thing we have plenty of other stations to pick up slack.. Q10WHO?

I have been a dedicated listener to Q102 for 20 years. It is the only station I listen to. Out of all of the host combinations, this recent combination was ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! Everyone had great charisma together! I would have withdrawl from the show when they went on vacation. This week, I have eliminated Q102 from the preset in my car and changed the radio station that I listen to. I am boycotting Q102 and will actually say for the first time YEAH PRESTON AND STEVE! This is the biggest mistake the station is making. If the same group joins another station, I will switch to them in a heartbeat! I will probably go and by satellite radio now. I wish Booker, Angie and Blaire the best. Ruth

I can't believe that they fired Booker, Angie, and Blaire. They made my mornings. Now Q102 is just playing the same stupid music, over and over. I will have to find another morning show to listen to. Booker is a nice guy who participated in many charities. I am disappointed in ClearChannel's decison. I hope this didn't have to do with Booker's famous girlfriend. If it did, then someone needs to get a life at CBS.

I AM IN SHOCK!! What a HUGE mistake on Q102's part. They are going to lose TONS of listeners!!! Guess we need to start listening to Preston and Steve. The whole point of a morning show is talking! Booker and crew made Q102 in my opinion. The station is going to regret this decision. Again, what a HUGE mistake!!!!!

i signed up just to comment and say how unbelieveable this is. i will never listen to q in the morning ever again. i woke up to it every morning since booker started. booker and the rest will be missed. and will surley be given their own show somewhere else. and will have a following.

i still can't believe clear channel 'seeks to go to a more music-heavy format' in the morning ~ doesn't everyone understand that people want TALK in the MORNING, & MUSIC in the AFTERNOON? it's half the reason why people get out of bed in the morning ~ now Q102's ratings are going to to go down (@ least 6am-10am) b/c they decided to do this ~ audiences will just find another morning show to listen to b/c PEOPLE WANT TALK IN THE MORNING & ONLY THE MORNING. whatever - bad decision on the station's part - good luck to booker, angi, & blaire in finding new jobs!

The announcement is that Booker was "fired" - for the publicity and because it makes him sound more like a tough guy who would rather be fired than compromise his integrity. But Booker and the station amicably decided to part ways because the Philly thing just didn't catch fire for him (or Q) and now he and Alycia can move anywhere - and the station gets publicity about their format change. Woo-hoo, same old radio games.

I have to agree with FrankieDaFace- why would they can a number #1 morning show staff? Does this have to do with Booker being involved with Alycia? Is there a connection with ClearChannel and CBS? I liked the show, with the exception of Diego who is HORRIBLE. I also agree that Booker getting involved with Alycia was a bad move on his part. But he seeks women who are crazy/drama queens (remember his ex, Caron?) I hope that Blaire and Angi didn't have to pay for Booker's personal life.
