Sen. Barack Obama recently promised to have a cheesesteak while in the Philadelphia area, and John Serock of Serock Catering tried to help him out by offering cheesesteaks to the senator and the traveling press at an Obama event last Wednesday at Great Valley High in Malvern. Obama instead opted for grilled swordfish with brown rice and steamed vegetables. Obama's campaign did not return e-mails asking whether the candidate has yet had a cheesesteak. If he does, we hope his supporter John Kerry doesn't tag along. Sen. Kerry famously and daintily nibbled a steak from Pat's in 2004 after first asking for one with Swiss.

Maybe his spiritual adviser, The Rev.Jeremiah Wright told him to avoid Philly and cheesesteaks. Maybe Wright could become his taste tester.
