The National Constitution Center has approached the campaigns of major Republican and Democratic presidential candidates in hopes to play host to debates of one or both parties, sources tell us. We hear the NCC is hoping to secure the candidates to come prior to Super Tuesday Feb. 5 when 24 states will hold primary elections or caucucses. The NCC has secured CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric to moderate the debates which would be carried on CBS, making it the first prime time presidential debate this cycle to be carried on network, not cable, television. ABC carried a Sunday morning debate from Des Moines earlier this month. A CBS3 spokeswoman referred our inquiry to the National Constitution Center where a spokeswoman offered a polite “No comment.”
