Comedian Danny Ozark was beaten and robbed about 2 a.m. Saturday near his Germantown home by a group of five thugs. He suffered bruises and a black eye. The hoodlums stole his phone and his bag, which he later got back after someone found it in his yard and contacted him.
Many remember Ozark (real name: Peter Goldman) from our coverage of his 2007 invasion of privacy of NBC10's LuAnn Cahn. While at a party thrown by a babysitter at Cahn's Wynnewood home, Ozark rifled through the anchorwoman's underwear drawer. She later confronted him on camera about the panty raid.
"Well I guess Danny continues to be at the wrong place at the wrong time," Cahn told us yesterday, after learning about his beating. "What was he doing out at 2 a.m.?"
As for her whereabouts during the attack, Cahn said she was "at home fast asleep with a lock on my underwear drawer."
Comedians Ed McGonigal, Mike Rainey, Joe Mayo, Tommy Pope, Dirty Diamond and Benny Michaels will perform at a fundraiser for Ozark Saturday night at the Irish Pol (45 S. 3rd).
There's no cover, but donations are appreciated, McGonigal said.
Ozark won't be there; he's working as a DJ at the Laff House (221 South), where Mike Brooks is headlining that night. Ozark says the local comedy community has already given him enough money for his medical expenses so he'll donate proceeds from Saturday's event to Dustin Walls, a local man with cancer whom Mayo and Rainey have been helping through their Comedians for a Cause charity.
