NBC10 ending '10!' show after 10 years, last broadcast is Friday

NBC10’s “10! Show” comes to an end Friday after 10 years.

Starting Monday, the 11 a.m. news will run until noon, wiping out the 11:30 to noon show, station GM Eric Lerner told staff on Wednesday. Lerner cited the station's commitment to strengthening its newscasts for the switch.

No on-air talent will be let go, but four dedicated "10!" show staffers could lose their jobs, though they are being encouraged to apply for other open positions at the station, says an NBC10 spokeswoman.

The “10!” show launched more than 10 years ago with Steve Levy and Sharon Reed. In 2004 meteorologist Bill Henley and musician Lauren Hart began broadcasting at 10 a.m. live from the Loews Hotel in Center City.

The show eventually moved to broadcast live from NBC10’s Bala Cynwyd studios  trimming back in 2011 to 30 minutes.

Henley remains co-host along with reporter Jillian Mele. They had previously hosted along with LuAnn Cahn and prior to that Henley was partnered for several years with morning news co-anchor Lori Wilson.

Wilson is responsible for our personal favorite moment from the "10!" show here...

Pretty soon 3, 6 and 10 will have all news all day long except prime time. All they do is rehash the same stories over and over and over again.

And it's not even good news reporting any longer.

Honestly, game shows and soaps are better than non-stop and rehashed news.

shame, it was a nice venue for local merchants to get thier wares out there, hopefully some of it ends up on NBCPhilly Non Stop. But with Channel 10 not being involved with the news program on Channel 17 any longer, they need an outlet.

Very sad to learn The 10! Show will no longer be aired. I was a "regular" audience member for 2 years and will miss my 10! Show family including the hosts, the staff and the other audience members Hope something changes and it will be aired again in the VERY near future.

NBC10 is the worst newscast, hands down.

Hope they keep Jillian Mele. She should have her own show. Actually her own network. Jillian Mele 24/7. Better yet, and all Jillian Mele/Sheena Parveen network. They can read the phone book all day and it'd be the highest rated show in the history of TV.

They could always offer the 11:30 slot to Conan O'Brien again.

A definite shame. A city like Philly has such a vibrant and varied community in the arts, music, restaurants, lifestyle experts, film, every genre of music. Yet, now Philly has no where to have themselves exposed to these, other than canned 2 minutes pieces in the middle of a newscast. The music i have been introduced to from the 10 Show (as well as the very missed MUSIC BOX show on the NBC Local channel) was amazing, and so much of it home grown.

No offense to the news, but NBC already wastes the local digital channel with syndicated lifestyle shows instead of true local porgramming, now we have one less place to showcase.

I also wondered what might come next since Action News took over production of the PHL17 news.

What took so long to get this dud off the air? After Stacey Stauffer got the boot this show got bad. Jillian and Bill have the personality of 2 rocks. They should stick to their early morning gigs and then go home and take a nap.
