Watching Mitt Romney repeatedly referencing his "Five point plan" about rebuilding the economy during Tuesday's Presidential debate, we couldn't help but think about the ticket-scalping smooth-talker Mike Damone from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and his patented "Five point plan" about women.
We reached out to actor Robert Romanus, who played Damone in the classic movie, and whom we interviewed a couple years back while he was in the area shooting Eric Moyer's "A Halfway House Christmas," to see what he thought of Romney's plan.
Romanus said he likes to keep his own personal politics to himself, but he did go into character as Damone to provide his thoughts on the matter.
"Mitt's my main man. I too have a 'binder full of women," only I call mine a little black book, but they are the cream of the crop," Damone told us through Romanus, who just shot an episode of the show "Legit," and who has a film "Route 30 Too" on the festival circuit.
"Not only did I suggest he use my famous phrase, five point plan, I helped him craft it. As far as these debates go, my advice to him was short and sweet. "Act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. Isn't this great?"
Romanus, whose band Poppa's Kitchen just released its 7th CD, continued as Damone: "I also mentioned to him about using side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV on the campaign trail. It helps to confuse the hippies and it works good with the chicks. He could use a little help there, I told him at least pretend to have some respect for women," wrote Damone through Romanus, who is also about to open a small espresso bar in North Hollywood.
For those of you who need a refresher course in Damone's advice, here it is...
The duo of Romney and Ryan would drive the entire economy into a nose dive as long as it benefits the richest Americans. Income inequality is endangering the Middle Class and making paupers of us all who don’t have those millions upon millions of dollars. Gawd, I can't wait till all you Sick Obama Kneepadders take a hike. sillybilly
damone for president!!! The Boston Strangler
This rag of a paper is resorting to seeking out "B" movie actors for political opinions?
How about the 90 lies Obama has told the American public in 4 years?
Dan Gross, why not publish an article debunking this 90 lies?
I'll hold my breath.
http://obamalies.net/list-of-lies StraightottaPhilly- Well done Damone. Man the Tonner wishes he could have enjoyed the 70s. Playing side 1 of Led Zeppelin 4 now seems to just scare the broads away. Side 2 of Achtung Baby didn't get it done either.
I never knew The Battle of Evermore or Blackdog put women in the mood. Craigger
Not sure what album/side it was on, but "Immigrant Song" would be great...if timed correctly. Roger Podacter
Not to put too fine a point on it but...you know....towards the end. That would be good. Not so much to get her in the mood. Only after she's been properly mooded and so on and so forth. So we're clear. Roger Podacter
I always thought "The Lemon Song" was a more appropriate song when you're with the ladies. Commentdant_Klink
