North Philly native rapper Meek Mill tweeted early Thursday morning that he was detained Wednesday night by Philadelphia Police.
"Cops just harassed and violated me last night in Philly for being famous," Meek Mill, aka Robert Williams, told his nearly 1.9 million Twitter followers.
Williams was in a vehicle stopped at 1100 W. Girard Avenue at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday. Neither Williams nor any other passengers were arrested, said Officer Tanya Little, a Philadelphia Police spokeswoman.
Little said she was not sure why the car was stopped, nor if Williams was driving, and declined to reveal the make of the vehicle. None of the passengers were arrested during the traffic stop, Little said.
"The crazy part about is I really had a handcuff and Rolex on my wrist yesterday.... Really," tweeted Meek Mill, whose new album "Dreams and Nightmares," released Tuesday, features handcuffs and a Rolex on its cover.
The incident didn't slow him down as we're told he shopped at Mitchell & Ness (12th & Chestnut) Thursday afternoon while the store kept other customers out.
