Things could be looking up for Alycia Lane.
We’re told Lane’s attorney David Smith and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office have agreed to a deal, to be made formal at her Feb. 25 hearing in Manhattan, for an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, or ACD.
According to New York Criminal Procedure Law an ACD means essentially that she would receive up to six months probation during which if she stays out of trouble, the case would be later dismissed by the court.

If this happens, it could help Lane’s legal action against CBS3, which fired her Jan. 1. Lane has not sued the station, but rather filed court papers seeking documents related to her employment there. The move, called a praecipe to issue writ of summons, is typically a precursor to a lawsuit.
Reached by cell moments ago, Smith said he could not comment on anything before it goes to court. A spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office also declined comment. Smith has previously stated that Lane never hit the NYPD officer she is accused of assaulting during a Dec. 16 road rage incident, first reported here, and has also denied Lane called the female officer a “f---ing dyke.”

In vain thy reason finer webs shall draw,
Entangle Justice in her net of law,
And Right, too rigid, harden into Wrong,
Still for the strong too weak, the weak too strong.
Nice to have a lot of money. If she were just some poor chica from the hood there's no way she'd get such preferential treatment. She'll still tank in her civil case because her actual guilt is immaterial to whether she was tarnishing the image of the station and her credibility by calling Fast Eddie for help, etc.
Celebrity Justice strikes again.
She's going to be at Wrestlemania now...excellent
I think that there was "not" much substance in the Manhattan District Attorney's case, it was a he-said <-> she-said situation, and this is the way for them to try to save face.
Now the people at CBS3 may wind up paying a great deal of money because they acted in haste!
Not surprised. Fast Eddie and Mr. Bloomberg are very good friends. Obviously many are at work to help save her. She will be back somewhere soon. And Playboy will happen, but not until the younger competition arrives. Besides, Playboy has the magic to make the wrinkles disappear.
Dismissed...ummm too bad so many are here to pass judgement only. District Attorney KNEW their was no case so that is why this is OVER......
I think there should be many many apologies sent and Philly mag needs to rewrite the mean spirited story they did too.
For no good reason she has been crucified in the media.
Good for her. I hope she stays in journalism, her insight into our criminal injustice system can help a lot of people.
what a crock!!
Another case for the select treatment of the rich. She did it. She copped to it in private and no she gets off. Thats OK because she is seen as a joke anyway. Where do I buy the ALICIA T SHIRTS ANYWAY?
Good for her. She's just misunderstood, that's all. She'll land on her feet someplace.....
Most people, rich and poor alike, get preferential treatment when it comes to matters such as this. Get your head out of the sand, Sinmbile. And speak English while you're at it.
great another case of out of control law enforcement shot down
Her record will be expunged, but she will have to plead guilty to the charge. This means she will will be convicted. THis is NOT good for her lawsuit because she is not contesting the FACTS. THis means she did it. New York doesnt care about her, they get the conviction and the police are vindicated that their story is true.
Jroll
I believe you are wrong. She will not be pleading guilty to anything
How freaking awesome! This is great news! I hope that Booker and Alycia can soon put this in the past and move on from this unfortunate incident.
Much love to Booker and Alycia

If this story is correct she is not pleading guilty. An ACD is not an admission of guilt. The case is basically put on hold for six months. If Alycia has no run-ins with the law the case is dismissed. If she is re-arrested then the state will go ahead with the trial on the felony assault charge. She will not have to plead guilty or not guilty unless she has to go to trial

I never realized how hot she is!!!!She's INNOCENT..
It is Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, OJ and Brittany Spears justice. She is admitting to no responsibility for what she did!
Forget about her looks, we'll check back on that in 20 years. Never-the-less, let all sentiments be damned.
The truth must prevail. My gut tells me that the cop struck herself when she tried to yank the cell phone away.
No prior criminal record either.
She'll walk.
What do you want her to do plead guilty to something she didn't do. I think she was over charged. It probably should have been a disorderly conduct case not a felony assault.
how are you on probation if you are not guilty? Learn about the judicial system people. Probation for six months means she is under court supervison.
She has no record, so she's getting a diversion program. If there were truly no case against her she could have a trial and be acquitted.
She chose to do this because she knows she did it. She is the one trying to save face.
She lost a 700K job that would have taken care of her six years. Was it worth it to hit the cop? THey should have left the cab and walked to get another cab!
It's possible she got preferential treatment, but then again, these ACD rulings are used for us so-called 'ordinary' people too, especially in big cities where the backlog of cases is so great they try to eliminate having a trial for all but the most important cases.
We know something happened because the officer had medical treatment, but we don’t know if it was an assault or the officer was struck accidentally when she was trying to take Alycia’s cell phone. When it’s her word against the police why take a chance? Even if she were completely innocent I would advise her to take this deal.

When it’s her word against the police, why take the risk of a trial? I would advise her to take the deal even if she is innocent. The only advantage in going to trial is she may be able to sue the city if she won.
